Meet the Teachers
Behind every note played, every song sung, every performance perfected, and every student who discovers a new confidence is a teacher who believed in them.
Our music teachers do far more than teach scales, rhythms, notes, and technique. They create spaces where students learn to listen—to music, to one another, and to themselves. They teach discipline and teamwork, but also creativity, courage, patience, and the joy of making something beautiful together.
Whether they are guiding a beginning musician through their first few notes, helping a choir find its harmony, coaching a marching band through a halftime performance, or challenging an experienced student to reach for something just a little beyond what they thought possible, our teachers meet students where they are and help them grow.
Band Director
Lederian Townsend
In his 7th year as Band Director, Lederian J. Townsend is a proud native Floridan and graduate of Immokalee High School. He holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Leo University and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Florida State University’s College of Music.
During his time at FSU, he performed with the Concert and Symphonic Bands as a tuba player and the Jazz Ensemble III as bass trombonist. His primary conducting teachers included Patrick Dunnigan and Richard Clary.
After graduating, he immediately went into the classroom, where he has taught band, orchestra, chorus, jazz band, color guard and general music over the last nine years in the South West Florida area.

About Fort Myers High School Band Boosters
At Fort Myers High School Band Boosters, we are dedicated to supporting the Green Wave music program through volunteer service, fundraising, and events.
This 501 c(3) organization is volunteer-run by parents and supporters to help raise the funds and provide what's needed keep Fort Myers Music going. Sponsorships and donations are tax deductible.

Membership Makes the Music Possible
Membership in the Fort Myers Green Wave Band Boosters is more than joining an organization—it's becoming part of the team.
Membership dues and fundraising efforts help provide the resources our music programs need to thrive. Depending on program needs, booster support can help with uniforms and equipment, transportation, competition expenses, instruments and supplies, scholarships, special events, student experiences, and other costs that make high-quality music education possible.
But membership isn't only about financial support. Our greatest resource is our people.
Volunteers help organize events, support performances, assist with fundraising, provide meals and hospitality, help with logistics, and lend a hand wherever our students and directors need it. Whether someone can volunteer every week or only occasionally, every contribution makes a difference.
